The Australian Surf Life Saving Championships returns to the Gold Coast and gathers the whole community for a fun and exciting celebration of its 100 years in providing one of the most iconic surf competitions in the world. This event will gather 7,000 Surf Lifesavers representing 311 Surf Clubs battling each other out across two kilometres of beach in over 380 events across nine days of surfing extravaganza.
The largest event of its kind in the world, the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships will be featuring Youth, Masters and Open competition.
The Youth Championships will be held on 11 to 12 April at North Kirra. The Australian Surf Life Saving Youth Championships will also showcase races for U14 and U15 competitors.
The Australian Surf Life Saving Championships, also known as ‘The Aussies’ dates back to its inaugural event, which took place at Bondi Beach way back in March 1915. Over the decades, The Aussies has become one of the biggest events on the Australian sporting landscape, in the scale of the Commonwealth Games. This competition includes a two-week festival of surf lifesaving sport action such as the Australian Youth Surf Life Saving Championships, the Australian Masters Surf Life Saving Championships, which will also happen on 13 to 14 April, and the Australian Open Surf Life Saving Championship to be held on 15 to 19 April.
